FPSO is a floating manufacturing, storage and disassembly vessel. The offshore oil and gas industry uses FPSOs for processing and storing oil and gas before it is transported to a tanker or transported through a pipeline. The FPSO unit operates under an oil / gas platform or submarine template. Then, process and store the oil / gas for dismantling whenever necessary.
The main benefits occur when an FPSO is used in deep water or remote locations. In these situations, the location of the pipeline is generally not cost-effective, desirable, or even practical. Using FPSO offshore is therefore a more convenient and more practical solution than the more traditional methods and cost-effective.
In short-lived oil fields, where expensive infrastructure is not cost-effective, FPSOs are alternatives. In these cases FPSO offshore is often the only real answer, especially if the site is in remote and deep water where rigid platform installation can not be verified
FPSOs used in smaller oil or gas fields have the added benefit of being recyclable . If you no longer need one place, you can simply raise their ports and go to another location to reuse them. This has obvious advantages for stationary facilities that can be reused but not as easily or cost-effectively.
Oil and gas are often found in areas that are not always peaceful or benign. For example, in the northern part of Australia, occasional violent cyclones are exposed, which can easily damage the ship. With more warning, the FPSO can release its berths and take-off tower and leave steam from their own forces. When the danger goes beyond the FPSO, you can simply return and connect your pickup tower to get oil or gas once again for production and storage.
Another area where the danger extends in Canada, where the danger is not cyclones, but icebergs. Icebergs are floating in the currents and the wind and are unpredictable, often large and can cause great damage. The FPSO ship from the offshore seat has little chance of avoiding the collision, but it also goes off when an iceberg is threatened. Sturdy platforms are not capable of doing so and are therefore potentially vulnerable.
The FPSO ship's advantage over fixed installations as it does not have to be objective. Easy-to-convert tanker, which is a useful life cargo ship; Reduce Costs and Recycle Existing Structure
Cleaning and Maintenance
Offshore assets are held for a long time if properly maintained – containers are effectively cleaned and maintenance programs are drained / sludge and other contaminants. A good program for tank cleaning and maintenance ensures FPSO's long and useful life.
