One thing I hate is the Internet Marketers who bombard me with autoresponder email and email with frivolous offers for their next best thing they want me to buy. If I opt in to an Internet Marketer's list and start receiving so much email traffic that it would kill a forest if on paper, their email address goes straight to my Spam filter.
What is an Internet Marketer to do? Relational Selling.
If you have read any books on the market of the new wave psychology of selling techniques, you have absolutely read what I have coined, "Relational Selling."
Before hiring an opt-in contact with an encrypted email address, trying to convince them to buy from you, what about the first cultivating a relationship with that contact?
There are Internet Marketers out there who have caught on this idea of Relational Selling. Rather than blast me with their next best offer, they send me a zip file of free articles, special report, access to some of the pricey program, or something else to show me they care about me and my business.
You must invest the time to get to know your contact before you ask them for something. This is no different than face to face networking.
Once we have massaged and cultured the contact we can ask them what kind of products would help them build their business. Is there a product that they want to buy but it's just not on the market? If you can pull this information from your contacts after developing a relationship with them, you can move on to use the information to create a specific product for them.
Guess what will happen next? Once you have created that new product, the contact who you've been massaging, grooming and cultivating will buy the new product from you that they helped you create.
Why will they buy now? Because you have won them over through relational selling and got to know a bit about them. They now know, like, trust you, and once this has happened, you have a paying customer for life who will also continue to feed you information you can use to create the next big product.
